What is Envirothon Alberta?
- Envirothon Alberta is an annual high school environmental competition that moves students from environmental awareness to active stewardship.
- Students come away excited about learning, and motivated to pursue careers in natural and environmental studies.
- Winning teams from each province and state advance to Canon Envirothon and an opportunity to compete for recognition, prizes, and scholarships.
- A team is composed of an advisor and five students that can range from Grades 9 – 12.
As part of an Envirothon Alberta team you will:
- participate in fun field testing competitions using professional equipment
- take part in outdoor workshops to understand interrelationships in the natural environment
- find solutions to environmental problems
- gain exposure to career opportunities
- improve the environment
- explore the outdoors & test how green you are
- earn 2 high school CTS credits
What wiill Envirothon Alberta do for you?
Develop knowledgeable, skilled, and dedicated citizens who understand natural resources, and are willing to work towards maintaining a balance between the quality of life and the environment.
Our objective is to:
- Equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to resolve complex environmental issues
- Promote stewardship of natural resources
- Develop cooperative problem-solving and decision making skills
- Provide students experience in environmentally-oriented activities
